Specific places. A workable pace.

Big stories. Slow-smoked meals.

Made for: Museum and food travelers who want substantial visits and a downtown or Crossroads base.

Use the route below, then open each named recommendation for its official details. Prices marked “estimated” are editorial planning allowances; published fares can change and availability is not held.

Your itinerary

01Settle into downtown or Crossroads

Check in, review streetcar service and reserve Jack Stack at Freight House if your arrival leaves a comfortable margin.

Food options for this part of the trip — choose to suit your timing:

02The First World War, without rushing

Give the National WWI Museum a substantial half day. Buy general admission or a combo according to the exhibits you actually want. Jack Stack’s Freight House location is a logical meal afterward, with time to walk or ride there.

Food options for this part of the trip — choose to suit your timing:

03Baseball history at 18th & Vine

Arrange transport to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Allow enough time for its interpretation of sport and segregation. Return downtown afterward rather than assuming the streetcar runs directly to the entrance.

↗Allow for the airport distance

Keep the final morning simple. Kansas City International is outside the downtown core; plan a separate transfer.

Build a budget you can use.

Prices and source links reviewed October 23, 2026. USD is the local currency used in this guide; no exchange-rate conversion is assumed.

  1. Multiply your selected hotel’s room rate by your actual nights, then add its taxes and mandatory fees.
  2. Multiply meal allowances by the number of diners and meals. Add breakfast, snacks, drinks, tax and gratuities as needed.
  3. Add only the activities you choose. Keep per-person, per-vehicle and included-admission costs separate. Check child, resident and passholder eligibility.
  4. Add transportation, fuel, parking and any optional queue products. Flights, insurance, shopping and advisor fees are not included in the item prices.

Booking order: Confirm dated admission or tour availability first, then coordinate refundable lodging and restaurant reservations. For multi-day theme-park trips, price the actual multi-day ticket rather than multiplying one-day fares.

Destination planning notes

This guide uses Kansas City, Missouri hotels and restaurants. Q39 Midtown is not its Kansas suburban branch. The streetcar is free, but it does not replace every trip to 18th & Vine or your airport transfer. Reserve barbecue dinners and check museum closure days. WWI general admission excludes its featured exhibition and tower, so choose a combo only if you want those additions.

Check the official links for current hours, closures, accessibility and cancellation terms. Weather, maintenance and seasonal schedules can change the route.
