Specific places. A workable pace.

A change of altitude. And pace.

Made for: Nature lovers and travelers happy to adjust activity to weather and elevation.

Use the route below, then open each named recommendation for its official details. Prices marked “estimated” are editorial planning allowances; published fares can change and availability is not held.

Your itinerary

01Arrival & your first meal

Check in and leave room for travel delays. Bird & Jim is a meal option if its current service hours fit your arrival; use the linked menu and reservation details before committing.

Food options for this part of the trip — choose to suit your timing:

02Bear Lake & Sprague Lake

Reserve the Bear Lake Road access category when required. Start with Bear Lake’s short loop, then choose Sprague Lake if weather and energy allow. Both are high-elevation walks; one entry fee covers this day.

03Alberta Falls from Glacier Gorge

Use Glacier Gorge as the trailhead or add the shuttle/walking distance from your actual start. Allow 1.5–2 hours for the 1.6-mile return route. Turn back if weather or trail conditions deteriorate.

04Trail Ridge Road, when open

Check road status before leaving Estes Park. Allow a half-day for the scenic drive and overlooks; snow can close the road outside summer and sometimes within it. If closed, keep the day in Estes Park instead.

↗Departure with time to spare

Check out and allow time for the airport or onward journey. Arrange breakfast at your hotel if available; no paid attraction is assumed on departure day.

Three ways to stay

Hotels by name.

Choose for location and travel style, then check your actual dates. All ranges below are editorial estimates per room per night for two adults, not live availability or advertised offers. Tax, resort/destination fees and parking may add to the total.

A table worth planning around

Where to eat.

Meal allowances are per person, before tax, gratuity and alcohol. They are planning estimates, not fixed menu prices. Use the restaurant link for menus, current service hours and reservations; park restaurants require the appropriate admission.

Know what you are buying

Activities, trails & tickets.

This directory includes the route’s stops and clearly labeled alternatives. Do not add every price together. A park entrance fee is generally paid once for its validity period; included rides and trails do not incur another admission charge. Times are planning allowances, not guaranteed departure or queue times.

RMNP entrance & timed entry

USD 30/vehicle one-day entry; non-US residents age 16+ add USD 100/person unless covered by an eligible pass; timed-entry fee extra

Allow: Purchase before travel

Bear Lake corridor access is a separate timed-entry category when in effect.

Build a budget you can use.

Prices and source links reviewed October 21, 2026. USD is the local currency used in this guide; no exchange-rate conversion is assumed.

  1. Multiply your selected hotel’s room rate by your actual nights, then add its taxes and mandatory fees.
  2. Multiply meal allowances by the number of diners and meals. Add breakfast, snacks, drinks, tax and gratuities as needed.
  3. Add only the activities you choose. Keep per-person, per-vehicle and included-admission costs separate. Check child, resident and passholder eligibility.
  4. Add transportation, fuel, parking and any optional queue products. Flights, insurance, shopping and advisor fees are not included in the item prices.

Booking order: Confirm dated admission or tour availability first, then coordinate refundable lodging and restaurant reservations. For multi-day theme-park trips, price the actual multi-day ticket rather than multiplying one-day fares.

Destination planning notes

Timed-entry rules are seasonal and may apply separately from entrance fees. Check the NPS for your dates, road closures, trail conditions, and altitude guidance. This outline is best adapted to the season, not treated as a winter hiking plan.

Check the official links for current hours, closures, accessibility and cancellation terms. Weather, maintenance and seasonal schedules can change the route.
